When He Was Tested

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, of whom it was said, “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back. NOTE: Please understand that this was a ONE-time event and it demonstrated the magnitude of what God was going to do in giving His only Son, whom He loved, to save us from our sins. (Matt. 3:16-17, 17:5, John 3:16-18, 10:17-18) Mentally disturbed people in these times who say that God “told them” to kill anyone, for any reason, are NOT hearing from God. Notice that Abraham did NOT kill Isaac. He passed the test by trusting that God knew what He was doing and had all the power to keep His promises of Abraham’s future descendants even if anything were to happen to Isaac, his only true heir.
